These are real Subaru engine failures and precise PCM in-house rebuild results. Our assembly process focuses on long-term reliability and restoring every unit back to peak performance.
EJ257 Short Block: Spun Bearing
Common signs of an EJ257 spun bearing: • Metallic glitter or copper-colored flakes in the oil • Rod knock that gets louder with RPM • Low oil pressure • Deep scoring and discoloration on the crankshaft journal • Bearing shell welded or fused to the crank journal • Copper backing visible where the bearing material has worn away The turbocharged Subaru WRX STI EJ257 is particularly sensitive to: • Low oil level • Oil starvation during hard cornering • Poor tuning causing detonation • High mileage with worn bearings • Extended oil change intervals
FB25 Head Failure: Valve Leak
Failure: Burned valves and excessive carbon buildup causing compression loss. In-house Process: Complete thermal cleaning, valve seat re-cutting, and installation of new seals. Result: Meticulously seated valves ensuring zero-leak flow and factory-correct performance.
Engine Rebuild
Rebuild procedure: Every Subaru engine we rebuild is fully disassembled, cleaned, and measured. We correct known weak points, machine components in-house to precise tolerances, and use quality parts matched to your power goals and driving style. Each short block is assembled in a clean environment, torqued to spec, and checked for proper clearances so you get a reliable, long-lasting engine that’s ready for daily driving or spirited use.
