Engine Restore FAQ
What does your rebuild process involve?
Every PCM restoration involves a full teardown, deep cleaning, and expert reconditioning of blocks and heads. We reassemble every unit with new bearings and seals, ensuring all components meet strict OEM standards for longevity.
What is the expected turnaround time?
Restorations typically take 2–4 weeks based on shop capacity and part availability. We will provide a firm schedule once your project is booked and offer regular updates throughout the engine assembly process.
How is the 12,000-mile warranty applied?
Our 12-month coverage protects against defects in craftsmanship. Valid protection requires professional installation and adherence to our break-in steps. Heavy modifications or competitive use will void this reliability warranty.
What do I need to provide for the service?
Please provide your VIN and vehicle history. If supplying a core, it must be drained of fluids and stripped of accessories. Alternatively, our shop can source a dependable, factory-spec core for your restoration.
What is the recommended break-in guide?
Gentle break-in is vital for longevity. Run high-grade conventional oil for 500 miles, then perform a full swap. Limit engine RPM and drive conservatively until you have reached the 1,000-mile milestone for a healthy life.
Can a rebuild fix common gasket failures?
Absolutely. By expertly resurfacing building blocks and using improved multi-layer steel (MLS) gaskets, we address the primary weaknesses to ensure a leak-free, reliable engine for your daily commute.
Stock Parts & Ordering FAQ
How do you source and inspect your used Subaru parts?
We source components from gentle, low-mileage donor vehicles. Every part undergoes a multi-point inspection in our Eugene shop to ensure it meets our standards for dependable secondary use.
How do I know if a part is compatible with my Subaru?
We provide detailed fitment data and OEM part numbers for each item. If you are unsure, contact us with your VIN so we can verify that the part is a correct match for your specific model.
What does 'used' condition actually mean for these parts?
Our used parts are fully functional for daily use but may show minor cosmetic wear. We disclose any significant visual imperfections in the product description and detailed photos.
What is your policy for DOA or defective used parts?
We offer 30-day DOA protection on most mechanical components. If a part is found to be non-functional upon arrival, we will provide a replacement or a prompt refund.
How do I place an order for parts from your online store?
Simply browse our inventory, add items to your cart, and proceed to checkout. We accept major credit cards and offer secure shipping options through our automated logistics system.
Can I pick up parts locally in Eugene?
Yes. Select the local pickup option during checkout or contact us directly to coordinate a time to visit our shop and collect your order in person.
Shipping & Logistics
What are the shipping options for engines versus smaller parts?
Restored Subaru engines are shipped via LTL Freight on secure pallets. Maintenance items and smaller used components are sent via UPS or FedEx Ground to provide tracking and standard insurance for your order.
What are the typical shipping timelines?
Most in-stock parts ship within 1-2 business days. For freight engines, logistics take 3-5 days to coordinate. Transit times vary by location, but most arrive within 5-10 business days once they leave our Eugene facility.
How does freight delivery work for engine rebuilds?
Freight deliveries require a commercial address or terminal pickup for the best rate. Residential delivery with a lift-gate is available for a fee. You must be present to inspect the engine and sign for the shipment.
How do you pack delicate used engine parts?
We prioritize safe arrival. Components are cleaned, wrapped in protection, and boxed with dedicated fill. Critical parts like cams or cranks receive extra shielding to ensure they reach you in ready-to-install condition.
What should I do if my shipment arrives damaged?
Please inspect the package immediately. If damage is visible, note it on the delivery receipt before signing and take photos. Contact us within 24 hours so we can resolve the issue and protect your investment.
Warranty & Protection Info
What is included in the long-term coverage plan?
Our 12,000-mile warranty ensures your stock rebuild is free of assembly defects. To keep your engine healthy and the warranty active: (1) cylinder heads must be professionally serviced by a certified shop with documentation, (2) the cooling system must be thoroughly flushed, and (3) new oil feed lines must be installed. These simple requirements prevent contamination and help your Subaru stay on the road for years to come.
Where does the inspection take place?
To ensure quality control, all local warranty assessments and repairs are done at our shop. If you are located out-of-state, the engine must be sent back to our facility at the owner's expense for a full inspection.
What situations are not covered by the warranty plan?
This coverage focus is on daily driving reliability. It does not apply to engines used for racing, or issues caused by low oil, overheating, or neglected maintenance. Parts like sensors or turbos are not included.
Who can I talk to about my engine's performance?
Our team is here to help with any routine maintenance questions or concerns. If you notice anything unusual, reach out to us right away so we can help you keep your Subaru running smoothly every day.
